It was a day to remember. It began with a friendly game of bowls, followed by a Remembrance ceremony with an opening speech by club director Andrew Whitford, who recognised the feats of Rear Admiral Guy Griffith (1923–2024), who served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

Guy Griffith served on ships that crossed every ocean—a lifetime spent under foreign skies and on restless seas. From the thunder of naval battles in wartime to long silent watches in the dark, he stood firm on the steel decks as missiles fired and storms raged. Each ship was a temporary home, each voyage a new chapter in a life shaped by duty, danger, and endless horizons—his commitment never waived.

This was followed by the raising of the flag at half-mast. Attendees stood in respectful silence as the last post played and wreaths were laid on behalf of the club, symbolising our shared remembrance and deep gratitude.

ANZAC Day is more than a date in the calendar; it is a powerful reminder of the values that define us—mateship, endurance, courage, and sacrifice. We remember those who landed in Gallipoli in 1915 and pay tribute to all those who followed in their footsteps, defending the freedom we enjoy today.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, participated, and helped make the day both meaningful and memorable. The turnout was a touching reminder that the ANZAC legacy continues to unite and inspire our Clovelly community.
